Book one, La Belle Sauvage: The Book of Dust Volume One, is out now, and is a dark, political, creepy, upsetting, but excellent read.
It's set when Lyra is a baby, and follows Malcolm Polstead, a boy who becomes her servant for life upon setting eyes on her. It's not a barrel of laughs – it's chilling, bleak, tragic and disturbing – but it's great to return to the world of daemons and alethiometers.
It's read by Michael Sheen, from the Twilight movies! That means he got to read it before anyone else, doesn't it? Not fair!
It'll be called The Secret Commonwealth, set a decade after the end of The Amber Spyglass, but no release date has been announced yet. Philip Pullman is still working on part 3. Can't wait!
