Something big is happening in Beanotown!
On 17 March, Dennis the Menace is turning 10 for the 75th time and Beanotown is throwing what might just be its biggest birthday bash ever.
Since his debut in 1951, Dennis has sparked mischief, laughter and a love of reading for fun in generations of readers. For more than seven decades, he has reminded us that childhood is at its best when it’s powered by humour, creativity and imagination.
And for a character who has never been known for doing things quietly, this anniversary was never going to be small.
To celebrate the occasion, 75 of the world’s greatest creative mischief makers, as voted for by kids, have been invited to the party.
Celebrating people who never stop creating, imagining or changing the world (the sort of people Dennis would get on well with), the list includes icons like Ozzy Osbourne, Harry Styles, Dawn French, Romesh Ranganathan, KSI, Dua Lipa, Elton John, Claudia Winkleman, and even King Charles.
In a classic Beanotown twist, however, the guest list ran into a small problem. Walter introduced a rule declaring that only ten-year-olds could attend the party... Fortunately, creative mischief saved the day, and all 75 guests were able to attend as their 10-year-old selves.
The anniversary issue also features something never seen before in the comic’s history: an eight-page fold-out cover, bringing together all 75 mini mischief-makers in one enormous Beanotown street party.
Illustrated by Dennis the Menace artist Nigel Parkinson, the cover is full of Easter eggs, the kind Beano fans love and return to over and over again, looking for all the hidden bits of mischief.

The anniversary comic also supports the National Year of Reading, reminding everyone that reading doesn’t have to be serious to matter. In fact, sometimes the most powerful reading is the kind that makes you laugh out loud.
Because sometimes the most mischievous thing a kid can do… is open a Beano and start reading.
