1998 Beano Annual

As the 90's comes to a close, some characters undergo further changes and reimagination. In wake of the Dennis and Gnasher TV series, the flagship characters are as popular as ever!

Billy's New Clothes

Artist Vic Neill developed Billy Whizz further, changing his yellow lightning bolt tracksuit to red.

But change can be a slow process...

Sometimes in older Beano comics, characters would appear in different colour schemes, due to the limitations of printing technology. But even in the same annual, Billy Whizz here has the yellow flash on his track suit back! Oops!

All in the (Menace) Family!

Check out the whole Menace Family, just before baby Bea came into the picture! Dennis's parents would have the same look for another fifteen years, until the 2013 animated series saw them redesigned.

A Christmas Tradition!

Annuals have always been a Christmas tradition, but stories only occasionally took place during winter, as kids love reading Beano all year round. Merry Christmas from the 1998 cast of Beano characters!
