Which Christmas Advert Do You Like Best?
You know it's almost Christmas when the TV adverts take on a festive flavour. Here's our pick of the best so far!
In the run up to Christmas, our TV screens are flooded with Yuletide-themed ads. This year sees the return of a loveable root vegetable and some absolute tearjerkers! While we wait for John Lewis to reduce us all to a blubbering mess – who didn't shed a tear during the adventures of Edgar the Dragon last year? – here's our pick of the best so far...
WHERE'S KEVIN THE CARROT?
Kevin the Carrot has appeared on our screens for the last five years and this year's ad is a real nail biter! In the latest ad, we see the heroic vegetable flying a jet with Lieutenant Turkey, who accidentally ejects him from the plane! Look out for the hashtag, #WhereIsKevin and keep an eye out for him!
DISNEY'S TEARJERKER!
For this Christmas, Disney have made a three-minute animated film which gives us all the festive feels. The story is based on the relationship between a grandmother called Lola, her granddaughter and a well-loved Mickey Mouse toy which is in need of repair. The ad features the single, Love Is A Compass, sung by UK vocalist Griff. Money raised will benefit the children's charity, Make-a-Wish.
IT'S A KIND OF MAGIC
Is there anything more exciting than looking through a catalogue and making a list for Santa? If there is, we'd like to know. In Argos' new ad, two girls receive Marvin’s Amazing Box of Tricks and put on a show that's truly magical! Plus, you get to hear Gary Barlow sing his new song, Incredible.
FASHIONABLE KID!
Meet the Lil' Goat, who is undoubtedly the sassiest kid on the block. Follow the star of the advert as it turns heads on the farm with a bold choice of pink and green garments and accessories!
STRICTLY CHRISTMAS BALLET
Taïs Vinolo stars as a ballerina whose hopes of performing are dashed by the coronavirus pandemic. Prepare to get wet eyes and a lump in your throat as you see how her neighbours help achieve her dreams in this new Amazon ad. Waaaah!
A FESTIVE PARTY WITH A DIFFERENCE
Like Amazon, Asda have acknowledged that things will be a little different this year – but it doesn't mean you can't have as much fun. Check out the song Stevie Wonder’s That’s What Christmas Means to Me, which makes a nice change to all the other Christmas songs that play on an endless loop for the next month or two.
