The Bash Street Kids popped onto Beano pages in the golden age of the 1950's. Illustrated by Leo Baxendale, the strip was first called When the Bell Rings, becoming The Bash Street Kids two years later.

Often thought to have 10 pupils, Class 2B at Bash Street School in fact has 25 best friends, who come in all different shapes, colours, and sizes, each with their own kid powers and flaws. The readers have so far met Cuthbert, Danny, âErbert, Freddy, Harsha, Mahira, Mandi, Plug, Scotty, Sidney, Sketch, Smiffy, Stevie, Toots, and Wilfrid.
